The Cheltenham Festival is one of the most anticipated events in the racing calendar and 2016 marked a record turnout for the event with over 260,000 attendees over the four day festival.
With race-goers looking forward to consuming plenty of food and drink whist enjoying the events of the festival, the Jockey Club had a challenging task in managing the vast amount of waste materials and food waste generated.
As the official partner of the Jockey Club for the management of waste across all of their sites, WCRS was responsible for managing the recycling and waste programme for the event ensuring all waste was handled efficiently, sustainably and compliantly.
WCRS has worked in partnership with the Jockey Club since 2011 striving to continually improve on the levels of waste being recovered for recycling and 2016 was no exception.
Read our latest case study to find our approach to handling the waste at such a large-scale event and how we have helped to continually improve recycling rates for the festival.Download file: WCRS Cheltenham Festival Case Study
